![]() ![]() I think the best way to describe my feelings towards this book was that it all felt a bit surface level, while I wanted something more hard hitting. The different aspects of Black topics and culture that were explored in this book were really important and I’m glad I was able to read about them. In terms of writing style, this book was very unique and the author used language and phrases common in Black culture. I feel like this is partially because I wasn’t fully invested in the premise surrounding rap (I don’t listen to this type of music much), as well as the characters not being developed fully and reaching their full potential. I didn’t go in with any expectations or anything, but at the end of the read, I just felt like it was a bit lackluster. Before picking this book up I had heard about it on Booktube, but briefly. ![]()
